technorati and Lbrary Thingy

The search for the term "bookmobile" netted me different numbers of results in general search and in advanced search (under exact phrase) - though the first couple of results do appear to be the same. I also checked out the genral search term "manly" but of course that pulled up some weird and wonderful blogs.
Applications - Librarythingy - http://www.librarything.com/ obviously has heaps of applications for individuals to use - and libraries could promote this site and hold lessons in how to use this site for individuals. Library run book clubs could also make use of this site and it could be promoted to Book Clubs who are using the public library system to source their books and keep track of what members are reading.
by the way I absolutely ADORE all the names of these things - very clever

p.s. on library thing there was a great list of other recommended reads for fans of "Twilight" - I will have to pass these on to some YA fans I know

Folksonomies - I liked that term pivot browsing - i suppose we have all done that at some stage with our traditional subject headings - find one book on the subject and then use that books subject headings to find other related books.
the online collaborative referencing - at work we have been doing this already by using a blog, but i can certainly see from the examples about del.icio.us how useful this would be

You Tube bits

Well I have wandered through the next few weeks and taken a look at the you tube bits from each week - I hope. And lets also hope that nothing else has been blocked by my Council. I noticed another person found that their Council IT section had blocked podcasts so at least my council is not alone. Practical uses of YouTube - you could use for internal training, use for promotional competitions eg a youth competition on fvideos about the library or videos advertising your favourite book, it would be great to get some exemplary examples of library staff storytelling to inspire and help train new staff to this world.

Adding youtube elsewhere

So i have added some youtube videos about tap dancing as a page element on my blog - I'll have to check with another staff member who is more expert on this to see what was wrong with the previous attempt...

youtube at last

Well I have finally got on to youtube - but you guessed it not at my workplace, which still has it blocked but at my sisters house. SHe has very kindly offered her pc to me. SO this afternoon its finishing off week 6 and having a go at embedding a video. Then hopefully I can cover a few of the other bits on youtube before I head back to work....
but i just tried - I copied the embed video section from the youtube website and used the link above to try and add it here but I get an error on page message - I will try elsewhere on my blog to see if I can achieve this
