Well I haven't been here for a while. I was just thinking about ditching this whole blog when the 2.1 e-mail arrived, courtesy of the lovely people at the State Library.
Prompts for your first blog post for this course
1. How much have you blogged since you finished the original course? - lots - I am happily blogging away on the www.insidebreak.org.au website and some staff websites. I spent 2008 blogging away for my local dance school. And I blog away for my teenage social club.
2. What do you like about blogging? how quick it can be - how you can pinch someone elses post and use it (with acknowledgements of course)
3. Have you found other blogs to read? - I wander around on some - not a great regular reader, read my high school year blog regularly
4. Do you comment on others' blogs?. occasionally
SO now I have to change the look of my blog....

Everything Done?
Well , I think I have got through everything, it has been an experience. Some parts were easy (mainly because I had some familiarity with blogs and digital images, others were really hard...am expecting to get together with a couple of other staff soon so we can sort out a 2.0 startegy for our library service - we are absolutely full of ideas, so its just a matter of implementing them (and the hard part - approvals from above). Thanks to all at the State Library for the programme...

del.icio.us
I found out how to add a network badge to del.icio.us from my blog, it certainly pays to explore...

social networking (1)
The map of who is using what is very interesting - it gives a good idea of on which sites libraries could put a social networking presence up - I have been very impressed with some of the library sites on myspace. we are working towards doing this at our library.
This topic i am finding more familiar - I set up my own myspace a while ago (just to see how it worked) but as none of my friends have social networking sites it really doesn't work. I have had suggestions to make it more of a hobby site - but I don't know it just doens't hold a lot of interest for me at the moment. And of course council has removed access to myspace....grrrr. Recently a high school colleague set up a geocities site - http://www.geocities.com/bhhs_nsw_1977/?
so I have joined and been chatting to former school friends here, I have also added quite a bit of content to the site with access to some newspaper articles for scanning etc.

applications
talk about a 1001 ways to do things...an absolutely great list produced in the training for ways to do things - as others said its stunning! - and yes its easy to see how we can use all these applications in the workroom, public use will probably take longer. But isn't it great that when they (the public) start coming in and asking us about these applications that we will have some inkling of what the heck they are talking about...

mashups
I used the Warholizer on Big Huge Labs to come up with this photo taken of a sunset that I had...I will have to introduce this website to my 15 year old - she is into photography at the moment and could do a lot with her photos
With the mashup library applications I liked the Voicethread idea - not just for Local Studies but also for Genealogy
